Cravings – Craving for a smoke will last about 5 minutes, between minute 3-5 the craving is at its strongest. Try and have some water and drink slowly, focus on something else to take your mind off smoking. Then try and ease yourself out of getting involved in those points. In time you will come across one of those points and you will know that this is a trigger so you will back off. Therefore the desire to smoke has not reached its critical point. A trigger might be getting up in the morning and the first thing you do is have a smoke. Try and get something to replace this like eating an apple.

Milestones- set targets to reach, this is very important. After two weeks of not smoking you can celebrate by going to the cinema or out for dinner. This gives a feeling of achievement. Physical Activity- Increase your physical activity, this helps you to focus on something new and reduces the stress and giving you new energy in your life. Support- make sure to inform your family that you will quit smoking at your certain date and that you might become stressed, or depressed or abrupt. No matter what happens make sure they support you.
